Bollywood is an immensely talented industry. There are hundreds of actors who have made a name for themselves on the silver screen in the past decades. Out of those, based on the best Bollywood movies of 2010, I have picked the top five who have given hits in the past year, and who have been consistently successful in the past decade or more.
Amir Khan
One of the most diverse actors in Bollywood is Amir Khan. His last movie Three Idiots broke all box office records. Not only that, he has a knack for picking the movies with great scripts and with massive audience appeal. Over the years he has managed to build a trust with the audience and any movie of his is bound to get a phenomenal opening. Known as a perfectionist in the industry, he takes a keen interest in the role and does not leave any stone unturned to make his character come alive on the silver screen,
Shah Rukh Khan
Known as "King Khan" in Bollywood, there is no denying that Shah Rukh Khan is a superstar. The hysteria he generates in three generations of moviegoers has to be seen to be believed. He is master of his craft and has gotten better with each release. His last release, My Name is Khan, proved to be an all-time blockbuster. The movie got great reviews and did amazing business in India as well as overseas. It has been dubbed in many languages and shown all over the world. Shah Rukh Khan is sometimes accused of not being a versatile actor, but his screen presence and charisma is such that he lights up the silver screen with his acting.
Akshay Kumar
Over a career spanning two decades, Akshay Kumar has proved himself to be a versatile actor. After proving his mettle in action movies, he has performed exceedingly well in both dramatic films as well as comedies. The key to success lies in his hard work, his ability to reinvent himself with each movie and his risk-taking attitude. He has become the true king of comedies with his last few releases, such as Khatta Meetha and Houseful.
Ajay Devgn
Ajay has been slow and steady for most of his career. His last two releases Golmaal 3 and Once Upon a Time in Mumbai have done great business at box office. Not caring much for publicity and awards, Ajay has proven over the years that he has talent and persistence, a deadly combination for anyone wishing to create a permanent place in the film faternity.
Salman Khan
The Brat Khan has been in the film industry for decades and every time the critics have written him down, he has risen from the ashes like a phoenix. His movies garner highest openings among all stars and he is extremely popular in India and overseas. His last two movies, Wanted and Dabaang, were super hits. And he has a huge line up of movies releasing in the next two years and his My Love Story with Kareena Kapoor is one of the highly anticipated movie of 2011.
Other actors worth mentioning include:
- Hrithik Roshan: Due to his last movie, Kites, flopping at the box office, Hrithik Roshan is not among the top five right now but all it takes is one movie and this star will be back on the sky where he belongs.
- Ranbir Kapoor: A new kid on the block, Ranbir comes from a royal family lineage. Although his debut movie failed to set the box office on fire, he has delivered many hits after that. His last two movies Rajneeti and Anjaana Anjaani did good business.
- Imran Khan: The nephew of Amir Khan, Imran Khan has delivered good movies in the past year but he is expected to deliver some blockbusters in the next few months.
